This project started with a pretty solid donor vehicle. The motor had already been swapped for a 1600cc engine, but it was still pretty gutless. The body work was decent, but not perfect. We did some minor mechanical tweaks to make it a better daily driver. We replaced the shifter bushings, adjusted the hood and boot latches, and replaced the (non-original) front seats with Miata seats.

Since the Ghia is pretty light weight to begin with, this is a more mild conversion with a single AC-51 and a 14.6 kWh (44 x 100 Ah cells) pack under the back seat. Range is about 65 miles, depending how much fun you're having. It is quite a bit quicker than it was originally and a lot more fun to drive.

We sold the GhiaWatt and it's now enjoying the sun in California! Stay tuned for the next project.
